Ontological studies in KDD:
Onto+logicas=Ontology
shoe+Walking--->shoe is real and exists and Walking may not. Ontology basically a study that relates to what exists (real) and derives relationships with what exists. The physical world exists and with that existance many relationships get formed. Ontological studies is a field of recognizing such existences and deriving relationships for knowledge discovery from large databases.

With the digital storage of documents growing exponentially, The Information retrieval from such storages is becoming hugely challenging. In this research we explore Mixture Models for document ranking and subsequent information retrival pertaining to a query.
